Aside from an awareness of the movie of the same name, Fried green tomatoes weren’t on my radar while growing up in the Pacific Northwest. It wasn’t until my dad’s wife made them for us while I was home on a break from university that they truly grabbed my attention. Fried Green Tomato BLT’s however, take the southern standard to a whole new level.
Fried Green Tomato BLT’s
BLT’s have long been a favorite of mine, the combination of crisp bacon, the juicy snap of the tomato, and the crunch of fresh romaine lettuce melded together between lightly toasted bread is one that I look for on any menu.
Oregon Wine Country’s Best BLT
These fried green tomatoes are great either on their own or slapped between toasted bread as a part of a BLT. Either way, you can’t go wrong.
The sauce that I use for these bad boys is one that gets tweaked every time we make fried green tomatoes and is one that is easily adjusted to your personal tastes. Not a fan of mayo? Sub it out for ranch.
