The Screw and Brew // a Cannon Beach Tradition
Beach house weekend have become the stuff of legends in our family and friends, so much so that they’ve essentially got an itinerary all their own. It tends to look something like this.
Arrive Friday, and either head to the Cannon Beach Hardware & Public House (more commonly known as the Screw & Brew) for a drink before everyone else arrives, or, if like us when we lived in Portland and would drive out after work, be met with cocktails once we arrived. After dinner, everyone piles down to the beach for a bonfire, walking back up the beach to crawl into bed happy and smelling like campfire smoke.
Saturday mornings we wander across the street to the Sleepy Monk for coffee and either walk on the beach with it or take it back to the house to watch golf, usually, it’s some combination of both.
Lunch at the Screw and Brew
What time we wander across the street for lunch depends on how the day progresses, and how long we nap (cough*how amazing the bonfire the night before was*cough) & that day’s game times.
Timing aside, our afternoons kick off with lunch (beers) at the Screw and Brew before heading back to the house to make dinner and follow the evening to house cocktails, dinner, bottles of wine, and if we’re all up for it, another bonfire.
Come hungry; leave full, happy, AND with a bag of nails.
