Summertime in Ohio means hot. The kind of hot and sticky that make you want to head for the nearest lake or river, strip down, jump in, float on your back, and watch the clouds go by. Sadly, that’s not always an option. What is an option however, is Rosé Daiquiris, in heavy frosty mugs, while sitting outside as day gives way to night, watching the fire flies dance and twinkle.

All Day Daiquiris Rosé | A Rosé Twist on a Summer Standard
By now y’all know that I’m a Left Coast transplant living here in Ohio. All though this is our third summer living here. I’m still definitely not used to the special kind of hot that is summer in the Midwest. Can we take a minute to talk about humidity!? Oregon, Portland, DOES NOT have humidity like this, the kind that makes it feel like you’re walking into a brick wall of warm and wet as soon as you open the door.
As I’m adjusting to the higher humidity levels, (read: hiding in the basement with the air conditioning blasting) I’ve also discovered the magic that is sitting outside once night has fallen, a frosty drink in hand.

Some of my favorite summertime memories from childhood are of “helping” my parents make daiquiris in slanting evening sunshine. “Helping” consisted of sitting on the counter, getting to dump in the different ingredients, and of course, the ever important job of pushing the buttons on the blender, once I was told it was safe to do so.
Nowadays, as I try and combat the humidity and heat, daiquiris have made a resurgence in our household, and I’m real happy about it.

Charles Smith Wines have been a staple in our house for years, and in the summer, we’re all about his Rosé. I was rustling through the fridge last week, trying to figure out what I could pull together to turn into a cocktail, because let’s face it. Sometimes wine alone just doesn’t cut it.
I’d picked up strawberries earlier that day and I had a bottle of Rosé chilling. Pretty sure that I had a cartoon lightbulb illuminate over my head, and in that moment, rosé daiquiris were born.
