For as long as I can remember, chicken sandwiches have been a standing favorite of mine. Pretty sure I can trace that love back to McDonald’s chicken nuggets, which was (and still is) my go to order at the Golden Arches. Once the much younger version of myself figured out that chicken sandwiches are largely oversized chicken nuggets on a bun, I was willing to try them, and then I was hooked.
Chicken Sandwiches @ Little Palace
Chicken sandwiches are one of my go to orders when I see them on a menu. Especially a late night menu, and absolutely when they’ve been recommended to me by someone who’s opinion on food I trust. As I’ve been working on the chef and judge bios for Hot Plate Iron Chef, I’ve been compiling a list of irreverent questions that I can tap for future HPIC chef and judge bios, and keep at least a thread of consistency in what I ask of our volunteers, chefs and judges alike. (I’ve had to get creative with what questions I ask when it comes to the judges bios, as I have to largely steer clear of anything food related, as it could potentially skew a contestants dishes, yes, these are the things that my brain considers)
Favorite late night food has been one that I’ve become quite fond of, as I find the answers interesting, and I firmly believe you can tell a lot about a person by how they answer.
Talking with Chef Marcus Meacham, the question had not fully finished coming out of my mouth before he had his answer ready. Chicken sandwiches at Little Palace. Period. End of Story. Well, not really, as he went on to tell me about how unequivocally perfect they are. Anyone who answers with that kind of passion, and ends with, “trust me, you just have to try it”, is bound to be convincing.
But best ever? That’s a tall order.
Jeff and I went to game five of the Blue Jackets attempt at the Stanley Cup Playoffs, and after watching that disappointing end, decided to stop and try them, and lemme tell you what.
HOLY AMAZING.
Meach did not over sell it. These chicken sandwiches, they’re perfect. In every way. And rather than try to convince you with words, I’ll let the photo do the talking. Trust me (and Meach) though, and go get one. As soon as you can.
You can find these bad boys for $4 a pop at Little Palace, and I can promise, you will not be sorry. Once you’ve gone (or if you’ve already tried them) I wanna know what you thought!
