Duck Donuts Comes to Dublin

Last fall, I heard the buzz when Duck Donuts came to Columbus. It was impossible to miss, as almost to a person everyone I’ve met here in Columbus’ Facebook was talking about it. Having just finished the Donut Trail down in Butler County with Jeff, I wasn’t quite ready to be around donuts just quite yet, and made note that when I was over that way and jonesing for donuts, that I’d stop. (The Donut Trail is serious business y’all)

But when I heard that there was one that was opening here in Dublin? Well, that’s just the universe telling me it’s time to try Duck Donuts. Duh.

I can’t say that I like them better than I like the Voo-Doo Donut’s Bacon Maple Bar, but it’ sup there dead even with it.

HOLY. DONUTS. BATMAN.

I get it now.

If you haven’t been yet, you’ve gotta go. Duck Donuts was founded by Russell DiGilio in Duck North Carolina, in 2006, bringing the made to order donut shop to the Outer Banks town his family vacationed in while he was growing up.

It all began on the sandy beaches of the Outer Banks in Duck, North Carolina. There, Russ DiGilio and his family would enjoy relaxing and fun vacations… but something was missing, there were no fresh donuts! So, they decided to create their own… and Duck Donuts was born. -Duckdonuts.com

The donuts themselves are small and dense, and just generally fantastic. I’m a sucker for breakfast sandwiches, (really any breakfast that you can eat one-handed while you’re on the run something that I’m going to want to have in my life), so that was a foregone conclusion on my to try list, because really, bacon, cheese, and egg on a donut? Yes please.

I took a dozen home, to nibble on over the next couple of days, and they just get better and better. (Real talk, that dozen didn’t last an entire 24 hours, those little bastards are really good)  Jeff asked me what my favorite was, and I can’t say that any one is better than another. You can the route that I did, and get the Signature Assortment, or, you can go the make your own route.

Pro tip, first time there, get the Signature Assortment.

The donuts themselves are dense and almost cake like, and are the perfect density for the glaze and various toppings.

They are all. so. good.
