While on the road last week for the #southernsummerroadtrip, I started out with intention to travel and explore during the day, and each night, publish a post about that days activities, with a full blown post after getting home. What is that is said about the road to hell being paved with good intentions? Yah. Just like that. What I was able to keep up on was the interactions within the various blogging groups I’m a part of. The Liebster Award made it’s way on to my radar only recently, so having another blogger award it to me was one of the highlights of this blogging journey thus far.
Let’s be real, who doesn’t like having hard work recognized by someone you don’t know at all?
The Liebster Award
The Liebster Award is a virtual award given to bloggers by bloggers that began in 2011. Liebster in German means dearest, favorite, & beloved (among others things, but for today that’s what we’re focusing on).
For those who don’t know, this award is one way to express our appreciation for our favorite bloggers, and discover new ones.
Essentially, it forces everyone to get out of thier bubble, get to know about other bloggers, and to connect with them. That’s the entire point of this nomination and the Q/A thing, which will make more sense in a second.
The creative entrepreneur life is definitely not for the faint of heart, it is FREAKING HARD, and can be incredibly lonely.
The version that is shared via social media generally highlights only the good stuff. The shiny moments. The happy moments. The behind the scenes stuff that no one shares? Not nearly so pretty and fun.
So, having our work recognized and called out by our peers is a big deal.
Imagine my dismay when I also found posts mocking the Liebster award, and ultimately mocking what it stands for.
You don’t like it? Feel free to move along.
Each blog post that you see published (and yes, there are always exceptions to every rule) takes a MINIMUM of three hours, and quite often, a hell of a lot longer. WHY invest that much time into something you scorn?
How the Liebster Award Works
This is how it works ::
- Post the award you were given on your blog so everybody knows how awesome you are.
- Publicly thank the person who nominated you and link to their blog.
- Answer their questions about yourself, feel free to add photos!
- Nominate 4–10 people with less than 1000 followers, inform them via social media.
- Write your own set of questions for your nominees.
- Feel good about yourself for winning an award and passing it on.
(Many, many thanks to Coleman Concierge for the above list)

Portland Oregon, with familial roots in New Orleans, Montana, and Australia.

Shot of whiskey. Neat.

Getting back to Europe, this time with my big camera in hand.
If you had a chance to hangout with a celebrity for a day who would you pick ?
Organized, messy or an organized mess ? Which one are you in general ?
I’m super organized, but my husband and partner in this crazy venture would tell you I’m an organized mess, and that would be on the good days. (he’s only partly not right.)
Stay tuned for part two to find out who I’ve nominated!
